Join us every Wednesday morning for a session of Kundalini Yoga.

What is Kundalini Yoga?
Kundalini Yoga is an activity that involves breath control (pranayama), physical postures (asana),
a variety of meditation techniques including voice work (mantra) and hand postures (mudra).
Anyone can do Kundalini Yoga. Whilst some postures require a degree of mobility, Kathryn, our qualified teacher can suggest modifications so that someone with mobility issues can still participate and benefit.
For example,  chair based yoga for those of limited mobility.
Our classes will last an hour and will be adapted to the needs of those participating.
Beyond the cardio-vascular benefits of physical exercise, yoga directly stimulates and effects the
glandular and nervous systems, and has various physical and mental health benefits.
Research has shown that Kundalini Yoga benefits various psychological and stress related disorders
including insomnia, anxiety, depression, and everyday stress and stress-related medical illnesses,
KUNDALINI YOGA FOR OLDER ADULTS – ageing & longevity with a flexible mind & body
In Kundalini Yoga, age is measured in terms of flexibility with the statement that 'you are as young as the flexibility of your spine'. Flexibility is like a bendy tree; it does not break with the wind. The spine can
become like a bendy tree. Just like the wind keeps blowing, you can use your breath to flex, twist and
stretch the spine. You can also adjust your breath and flow with life so your back will not strain or get
injured.
When people age, the body deteriorates: the muscles and joints become more or less rigid or mobile
depending on how they have been exercised. In Kundalini Yoga, there are many muscular-skeletal and
cardiovascular exercises with different breathing techniques and meditations that support and optimise a
healthy body and mind function.

These sessions are free and will be happening every week in 2017. Booking is essential.
